Build & run a report
An end-to-end walkthrough — build a report from a datasource, run it with parameters against a release or baseline, and export or schedule the output.
Reports turn live data into the documents a review or an audit needs — coverage matrices, risk summaries, verification reports — without copying anything into a spreadsheet. This guide builds one and produces output. For the concepts behind each step, see Report templates, Datasources & building, and Running & scheduling.
Build the report
Before you start Open the Reports module. Decide what the report is for and which data it draws from.
- Start from a template — Browse All Templates — or choose New Blank Report to build from scratch.
- Choose the DataSource — requirements, tests, risks, SBOM, traceability, releases, reviews, compliance, or training.
- Add the fields and columns you want, and define filters to scope the data.
- Name the report and save it.
Result A reusable report definition that draws from live data every time it runs — not a static snapshot.
Run it with parameters
- Choose Run and set the parameters — the project, and where relevant a Release, a Baseline, or a date.
- Run the report to generate the output for that scope.
Result Output generated against exactly the scope you chose. Running against a baseline reproduces the report as it was at that frozen point — repeatable for an audit.
Export the output
- Export the result as Word, Excel, or PDF, depending on who it's for.
- For a formal document, the output can carry a cover page, table of contents, header/footer, and watermark.
Result A formatted document ready to share or submit. See Export for the full set of formats and options.
Schedule it
- For a report you run regularly, set a Schedule instead of running it by hand.
- Choose who receives the output and on what cadence.
Result The report runs itself on schedule and delivers its output, so status and compliance views stay current without manual effort.
Note Who can run and see a report is governed by permissions — see Permissions. For a controlled, signed document with a revision and effective date, see Regulatory document signing.
