Moving, renaming & deleting items

Reorganize the tree by moving and renaming items, delete what you no longer need, and restore items from the trash.

The tree is yours to reorganize. You can move items, rename them, remove them, and — because nothing is truly gone right away — bring deleted items back.

Move an item

  1. Right-click the item and choose Move to…, then pick the new location. You can also drag the item to its new place in the tree.
  2. Confirm the destination.

Result The item moves to its new position. Its identifier, links, and history come with it — moving doesn't break the thread.

Rename an item

  1. Right-click the item and choose Rename (or use the item view to edit its name field).
  2. Type the new name and confirm.

Result The display name updates everywhere the item appears. The change is recorded in the item's history.

Delete an item

Before you start Deleting an item affects its links. Check what depends on it first — the item view shows its relationships.

  1. Right-click the item and choose Delete. For a folder, choose Delete Folder.
  2. Confirm.

Result The item is removed from the tree and placed in the project's deleted items, where it can be restored.

Note Controlled and locked items may be protected from deletion. If Delete is unavailable, the item's lifecycle state or a lock is preventing it — see Locking.

Restore from Deleted Items

  1. Open Deleted Items for the module (the trash).
  2. Find the item you removed and choose to restore it.
  3. Confirm the location it returns to.

Result The item is returned to the tree with its identifier and history intact.
