The project tree
Organize projects in folders, navigate the tree, and keep large portfolios manageable.
Projects are organized in a hierarchical tree of folders, so a large portfolio stays navigable. The tree is where you create, find, and arrange projects.
Folders and projects
The tree holds two kinds of node: folders, which group related work, and projects, which live inside them. You might group folders by product line, by business unit, or by program — whatever matches how your organization thinks about its portfolio. A project’s place in the tree is set by its Parent Folder when you create it, and can be changed later.
Building out the tree
From the tree you can:
- Create Folder — add a folder to group projects
- New Project — create a project in the selected folder
- Rename — relabel a folder or project
- Archive and Restore — retire a project or bring it back (see Archiving)
Selecting a folder shows the projects it contains; selecting a project opens its settings.
Active and archived
The tree can be filtered between Active and Archived projects, so day-to-day work stays focused on what’s current while retired projects remain available for reference and audit.
Switching the project you’re working in
The project tree is for organizing the portfolio. To change the project you’re actively working in, use the project selector in the workspace — covered in The workspace. The two are complementary: one arranges projects, the other sets your working context.
