Export your organization's data

Take a complete copy of your organization's data out of the platform on demand — request a full archive, download it, and know which export fits which need.

Data export lets your organization take a complete copy of its data out of the platform — a full, downloadable archive — because the data is yours and retrieving all of it on demand is a basic expectation of a system you trust with regulated records. This guide requests and downloads that archive. For the concepts, see Data Export.

Request and download a full export

The full export is the comprehensive package: the whole of your organization’s data in one archive.

Before you start In the Identity Portal, go to Data Export. You'll need administrator access.

  1. Request a full export of your organization's data.
  2. Download the archive when it's ready — in a portable, machine-readable form such as JSON.
  3. Keep it somewhere you control, as a backup held independently of the platform.

Result A complete copy of your organization's data, in your hands. See Data Export.

Choose the right export for the need

A whole-organization archive isn’t always what you want — there are narrower exports for narrower needs.

  1. Use data export for the whole-organization archive — the comprehensive backup.
  2. Use Reports and Import & export for specific documents, submissions, and interchange files.

Result Your data can leave as a formatted document, a standards-based interchange file, or a complete archive — whichever the need calls for.

Note For a regulated organization, demonstrable control over your own data is part of due diligence on any system of record. A full export on demand is what avoids lock-in and supports your retention and continuity obligations — you're never dependent on the vendor to get your own records out.

Where to go next

For targeted documents and submissions rather than the whole archive, see Reports. For standards-based interchange in and out, see Import & export.
